"After 3.5 years and many weekly classes, I have never had to coax my daughter to go to Spanish class. She skips into that building as if she is going to the park with her friends."
What do you call the most dynamic, play-based immersion language programs for kids ages 1-10?
Yak Academy! Yak Academy integrates fun play-based immersion, world-class native speaking instructors, and a unique environment of learning to create a powerful and effective world language experience.
Our time-tested, proven programs truly build little world citizens. Yak Academy has offered thousands of classes taught by skilled foreign language instructors and backed by curriculum intended to advance world language skills and cultural understanding. Over the years, we’ve partnered with world language and early childhood education experts to design programs with maximum sensory and intellectual activities. We’ve also partnered with our community, parents, and kids to create a culture of care and a learning environment that is warm, safe, fun, and welcoming.
So where did the name come from?
Yak (verb): To talk, speak or chatter
Yak (noun): an ox-like mammal native to the Himalayas and Tibet with dark, long and silky hair
Academy (noun): a school for special instruction
Our name and mascot make a little more sense now, don’t they? At Yak Academy, we’re proud of the highly conducive language acquisition environment we’ve created for kids. We all know kids love to play, right? Well, the best way to teach children to learn a language (including their native tongue) is to immerse them in an environment where they’re interested in what’s going on. Putting children in practical situations, like playing a familiar game or eating a snack, helps them learn what the pros refer to as ‘functional language chunks.’ In fact, immersion students reach higher levels of language proficiency than students in other school-based language programs.
We feel confident that your children will be put on the path to understanding and speaking a second (or third, or fourth…) language, and they’ll have a great time with us singing songs, doing arts & crafts, and playing games!
